Celebrities are Co-Parenting Role Models
I’m not usually up to speed on celebrity news, so when my daughter mentioned to me recently that Demi Moore and her new husband Ashton Kutcher are great friends with Demi’s ex, Bruce Willis, my response was “Demi was married to Bruce?” Yeah, I’m out of the loop.
But she peaked my interest and a quick google search proved that my daughter isn’t the only one who has noticed the former couple’s smart moves. They are the winners of the First Annual Celebrity Co-Parents Awards, and they frequently share holidays and vacations together with their children.
I also found it interesting that the couple was separated for two years before they divorced. In North Carolina there is a mandatory one year physical separation required before divorce. Perhaps more important than an opportunity to reconcile, I like to think of that year as a “cooling off period,” although that certainly does not always seem to be the case. I have no idea if Demi and Bruce benefitted from taking it slow in the divorce process, but they certainly did something right!
We hear about the nasty Hollywood divorces all of the time, so even if Demi and Bruce are old news, I found their story refreshing.
